2012 Winter Model Search {Portland Oregon Baby Photographer}

We’re running our 2012 model search and we’d love to have you join us!

Hi, my name is Lora Phillippi.  I am the owner/photographer of Life Prints Portrait Design.  I’ve been a professional photographer for 7 years and have a portrait  studio located in NE Portland, near the Lloyd center. We specialize in Newborn, baby and children’s portrait photography.

As we enter a new year, we’ve got a lot going on in the studio.  At the top of our list is a need to try out some new props, backgrounds, clothing, etc.

In order to do this, we need your help.  We’re looking for parents with babies and kids up to 5 years to come in with their kiddos and let us try out some new props and other fun ideas we’re working on. This gives us a chance to evaluate how we like a certain prop, background, etc. before we roll them out to our client base, and then we use some of those images for the props we decide to use in marketing and samples for the studio.  If you’re accepted as one of our models, you’ll receive a free session, a product credit of $35 that you can use towards prints, and 3 web ready images for use on Facebook, email, etc.  There is NO obligation to purchase prints or other products from us.  If you fall in love with any of the images from your session, you are welcome to purchase additional prints from us at a 10% discount, but there is not a requirement to do so in order to participate in a session.

In order to be considered for one of these spots, you will need to sign a model release for your child so that we can use the images for studio purposes.  We have certain ages we are looking for as well, so obviously your little one will need to fall into one of those ages in order to be considered.  Also please be aware that all images which we create are copyrighted and you will not have authorization to copy them, have prints made, etc.  We are happy to supply you with a free online gallery that you can share with family and friends, as well as the 3 web ready images that are part of our agreement with you for participating.  And of course, you are welcome to purchase prints you want directly from us at the 10% discount mentioned above.

So if you have a little one between the ages of brand new newborn (you didn’t know that was an age, did you?)  through 5 years, you may just get a spot with us for our 2012 model search. Give us a call and we can see if your child fits into one of the age groups we are looking for! Feel free to let your friends know about the model search as well, we’d love to have a great diversity of babies and kids this year to try out our new props. If your child doesn’t fit into one of the age groups we are looking for right now, we keep your information for future model shoots that may be a better fit.

Come check out our website as well if you’d like to find out more about the studio before you call.  I understand the concerns you may have for your kids with answering an ad online… I’ve got a 9 year old myself and his safety and well being are my highest concern.  (Yep, that’s him below!)

 I’m happy to answer any questions you may have over the phone, via email and I’d be happy to have you come take a tour of the studio.  All studio visits are by appointment only, so make sure to call us first if you’d like to come by… otherwise I might be out on a shoot and miss your visit!

Being Totally Committed {Life Prints Portrait Design}

Wow, I read a book the other day called “Do the Work” by Steven Pressfield.  It was fairly short but to the point and the main topic is about dealing with the resistance (in it’s many forms) that we face anytime we have something worthwhile that we want to accomplish.  There was a section where the question is asked “How bad do you want it?”  Here is the quote from the book:

This is Resistance’s first question.  The scale below will help you answer.  Mark the selection that corresponds to how you feel about your book/movie/ballet/new business/whatever.

Dabbling – Interested – Intrigued but Uncertain – Passionate- Totally committed

If your answer is not the one on the far right, put this book down and throw it away.

I had to take a close look at what I’ve been doing in my business and be completely honest with myself about how I’ve approached it.  I have always said that I am passionate about photography and my business.  That’s the truth.  It’s also the answer to the question above… or at least it was until that moment.

I walked away from reading this book with a new found commitment to doing everything I need to do in order to not only be able to have a successful business, but to reach all of the goals that I’ve set for myself… and to reach higher that I was before.  I walked away from reading this feeling totally committed for the first time in a very long time.

I think that often as business owners or even as people who are doing something that they love, we start off with so much passion and commitment.  Over time though, we lose some of that momentum that we had at the beginning.  While there can be tons of reasons why, the bottom line is that we have to make a conscious decision to keep that fire alive and not let any “resistance”, internal or external, deter us from our goal.

(Thanks to Sarah Petty at the Joy of Marketing for sharing this book with us.  If you want some great marketing advise, check out her website and blog. She and her partner Erin Verbeck are fantastic!!

Anyway, whatever it is you are attempting to do in your life, hang in there and make a conscious decision every day to do everything you can to work towards your ultimate success.  We’re all in this together!

Lora

And as always, don’t forget to become a fan on our Facebook page so that we can send you that $50 gift card towards your next session with Life Prints Portrait Design!
